A swimming pool, sports hall, badminton courts and weather pitches are some of the features.
Westmeath County Council is turning to the Government for support in covering the estimated cost of around €78 million for a sports complex.
Planning applications were submitted in July this year by the local authority for the two sites at Blackhall Place and Robinstown Road.
An eight-lane 25m swimming pool with spectator seating,a multi-use sports hall, twelve badminton courts and three all purpose weather pitches are just some of the features planned across the sites.
