Lizards Could Be The Key To Arthritis Treatment

Scientists were interested in how they re-grow their tails.

Scientists believe "magical" lizard cells could be the next step in treating arthritis.

A team at the Keck School of Medicine in South Carolina have isolated the key cells needed for the regeneration of tissue in reptiles.

Lizards are one of the few higher vertebrates able to reproduce cartilage, often re-growing their tails after an attack.

Scientists are now looking at ways to replicate this process in humans to rebuild tissue damaged by osteoarthritis.
