Over 1,000 fewer people in the midlands will receive the pandemic unemployment payment this week.
In total, 23,100 across the region will get the €350 covid payment this week, down from 24,200 seven days ago.
Westmeath has the largest number returning to work at 500, while 300 will be coming off the payment in Laois and Offaly this week.
Just under half a million people across Ireland are still on the scheme.
