A Laois TD wants a 24-hour Garda station in Portarlington
Fine Gael's Willie Aird is calling on the Taoiseach to engage with the Minister for Justice and Garda Síochána to restore the station to a full-time service.
He says the local community is worried such a large area is currently served by a part-time Garda station.
Portarlington has a population of about 9,000 people, and the station also serves surrounding communities such as Emo, Killenard and Ballybrittas.
