An extra €1.5m in funding is being allocated to the Housing First scheme.
A government housing programme is setting a target of housing 26 homeless people across the Midlands over the next two years.
An extra €1.5m in funding is being allocated to the Housing First scheme under provisions set out in the last Budget.
It focuses on providing permanent homes for those in long-term emergency accommodation who have complex needs.
77 people are currently eligible in the region with a target of housing 14 people set in Laois, 8 in Westmeath and 4 in Offaly by 2026.
The current cycle of the plan has been running since 2022, and will bring the total number of people accessing emergency accomodation housed in the Midlands to 70.
