The survey was carried out for the National Youth Council's general election manifesto.
The National Youth Council of Ireland, along with students in TUS Athlone wants young people to be taken seriously by the next government.
It forms part of its general election manifesto, which calls for the voting age to be dropped to 16, and a restoration of youth work funding to pre-austerity levels.
67 per cent of those surveyed by the council believe politicians don't fully consider how policies affect young people.
