Anti-Flood Devices On Standby In Laois Following Heavy Rainfall

Water levels in the Barrow and Owenass are dropping however.

Water levels in the Barrow and Owenass rivers are receding this lunchtime, following heavy rain in the Slieve Bloom mountains.

Botley Lane in Portarlington and Bay Road in Mountmellick remain inaccessible to traffic and 60 anti-flood devices are on standby.

Laois County Council is monitoring weather forecasts and is ready to respond to an emergency, if needed.
