An Bord Pleanála appeal has been lodged against the plans to open a drive thru at Lakepoint Retail Park in Mullingar.
Plans for a new McDonalds restaurant in Westmeath have been held up over a single objection.
Last month Westmeath County Council gave approval, pending 18 conditions, for the construction of a new drive-thru outlet at Lakepoint Retail & Business Park, on the Delvin Road in Mullingar.
The global fast food chain will now have to wait as one objector has lodged an appeal with An Bord Pleanála.
The appeal has been lodged on the basis that the restaurant will "negatively impact on the commercial viability and vitality of the town centre".
A decision on the appeal is due in July 14th.
