The former Taoiseach was rushed to hospital last July.
Brian Cowen is making steady progress after he suffered a suspected bleed on the brain last July.
Fianna Fáil Laois/Offaly general election candidate Barry Cowen also says his brother is keeping a close eye on the constituency.
The out-going TD made the comments at the launch of the party’s Laois/Offaly general election campaign last night.
He also thanked the public and party members for all their well wishes for Brian.
The former Taoiseach was first elected to the Dáil in 1984 following the death of his father Ber.
He retired from politics in 2011.
Great tribute Barry.
