Busy Midlands Street Being Pedestrianised Again On Temporary Basis

The measure was paused as businesses were re-opening slower than expected.

Laois County Council is re-commencing the temporary pedestrianisation of Main Street, Portlaoise.

The local authority had introduced the measure earlier this month, to provide extra space for businesses now operating with social distancing.

However, it was paused as companies were re-opening slower than anticipated.

The ban on vehicular traffic will be re-introduced on a periodic basis from the 14th to the 30th August - 6pm to 9.30pm on Fridays, and 11am to 9.30pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
