A local councillor says there are 3,000 vacant properties in the county.
A Laois councillor is calling on the local authority to increase its efforts to tackle dereliction.
Fine Gael's Tom Mulhall highlighted over 3,000 vacant properties in the county to the executive during this month's council meeting.
To date, the compulsory purchase order scheme has been applied to 19 houses, with the local authority taking possesion of 10 properties in 2019.
