A Westmeath councillor has proposed an accelerated roll out of CCTV like that in speeding vans to combat illegal dumping.
Labour Councillor for Kinnegad Denis Leonard brought forward the motion at a recent municipal district meeting.
It would include vans fitted with CCTV cameras on a rotating basis recording at recycling areas across Mullingar and Kinnegad.
The motion also included proposed follow up prosecutions alongside name and shame adverts.
