An extra €208 million nationwide to improve services is being promised by the government.
The Department of Transport is being challenged to address gaps in public transport services for commuters in a Laois town.
The Government intends to spend an additional €208 million to address the issue across the country on top of its current spending.
Fine Gael TD Willie Aird is claiming none of that initial money went to Laois, with workers in Portlaoise having to commute long hours every day.
He also feels some of that investment could expand routes on the current bus service in the town that launched last January.
