The cancellation of Electric Picnic will be a huge blow to the local economy throughout Laois.
CEO of Laois Chamber Bernie Everard says the festival not only boosted business on the weekend itself but also through set-up and on-site staff basing themselves within the county in the weeks beforehand.
Organisers announced the Stradbally festival was the latest to fall victim to Covid-19 yesterday afternoon.
It's estimated that it's worth around 36 million euro to the town and surrounding areas.
Ms. Everard says the decision wasn't unexpected, given the setting in which it was taken:
