CAP Meeting Unveils Deep Concerns From Midlands Farmers

Midlands MEP Barry Cowen hosted a panel discussion in Mullingar to debate farmers concerns.

Farmers are voicing deep concerns about the future of the sector as negotiations continue for the next Common Agriculture Policy in the European Union.

The CAP deal is worth hundreds of millions of euro to Irish farmers and there's widespread expectation the budget will be cut after 2027.

There's significant worry about funding for rural development, obligations around environmental policies, and how global conflict will affect all outgoing supports from the EU.

Farmers, nature conservationists, and politicians gathered in Mullingar yesterday to debate the issues.
