Charter Medical Group appoints Brian Fitzgerald as Group Chief Executive Officer Mullingar and Dublin, 3rd June 2026: Charter Medical Group today announced the appointment of Brian Fitzgerald as its Group Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant milestone in the company’s next phase of growth and expansion.
Fitzgerald brings extensive leadership experience across the Irish healthcare sector and is expected to oversee the continued development of Charter Medical’s operations in both Dublin and Mullingar, including major planned investments in hospital infrastructure, surgical capacity and outpatient services. Brian Fitzgerald joins Charter Medical from St Vincent’s Private Hospital, part of St Vincent’s Healthcare Group, where he served as Chief Executive Officer for four years from 2022 to 2026, having also held the dual role of Chief Financial Officer during the first 18 months of his time there.
He previously held senior executive roles in St. James’s Hospital and The Beacon. He has contributed widely to the Irish healthcare sector, serving as Chairperson of the Irish National Haemophilia Council from 2019 to 2025 and as Chairperson of the Private Hospitals Association from 2023 to 2025, alongside involvement in a number of government and industry bodies. He continues to serve as a member of the National Patient Safety Council.
He holds a first-class MBA from University College Dublin and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA), having completed his accountancy studies at Dublin Business School.

Charter Medical Group recently announced that it is planning to invest €85m in a new capital plan that will include a €50m investment in its Mullingar private hospital facility and a new ambulatory surgery centre to be located in central Dublin.
Overall group jobs numbers will grow from 370 to 700 with the expansion.
