School children protest over delays to new school.
A group of children have been protesting outside Westmeath County Buildings.
Accompanied by their parents, children carrying placards demanding 'no more delays' and 'finish our school' took up their positions outside Council Chambers, and in front of the County Buildings.
The word cacophony exists to describe the sound that followed while they blew into all manner of whistles.
As county councillors for the Mullingar area arrived for their monthly meeting they chanted in small but mighty voices, "What do we want?
"Our New School, When do we want it? Now!"
40 months has passed since the first completion date of September 2017 was given for Holy Family School, Curraghmore in Mullingar.
The Action Group says that the delay directly affects 276 families.
Today, over a dozen families including the tiny pupils who attend or will attend the new school arrived just before the meeting started and a small number of the families attended the meeting with the remainder maintaining their protest outside.
