A Laois school principal is welcoming the clarity on the Junior Cert.

The Education Minister yesterday announced schools are to hold in-house assessments before the end of May, instead of deferring the usual state exams until later in the year.

He says allowing schools to put their own arrangements in place, means students can look towards entering senior cycle when the school year begins:
