All county council seats in the midlands left empty by the general election have now been filled.
First time TD, Willie Aird's, seat in Laois has gone to Fine Gael representative Paddy Buggy who previously ran for a seat on the council in this year's local elections.
In Westmeath, Independent John Gibbons has been chosen to take over from Kevin 'Boxer' Moran, who will be making his return to the Dáil.
While in Offaly, Shane Murray was co-opted into Tony McCormack's seat and Eleanor Clendennen will take over the seat of her brother John Clendennen on the council.
