Local public representatives are asking people not to share content in relation to the incident.
A teenage boy is being detained following the death of a woman in Offaly.
It's after Gardaí and Emergency Services responded to reports of a violent incident at a residential property near Tullamore.
The body of a woman, aged in her 40s, was discovered in the property at approximately 1 o'clock and a teenager was arrested at the scene.
The boy is known to the woman and Gardaí are not looking for any one else in connection with this incident.
The scene is currently preserved pending forensic and technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been informed.
An incident room has been set up at Tullamore Garda Station and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed in the case.
Gardai are also asking the public not to share images from this incident that are circulating on social media and messaging apps.
