An early completion date has been set for 2021.

Construction on new community arts centre in Offaly will get started next month.

The Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht has given the go-ahead for the project in Tullamore and a contractor has been chosen.

The facility will be built on the site of Kilroy's on High Street, with a projected completion date of early 2021.

Chairman of Tullamore Community Arts Centre, Des Doyle, says it's been a long time coming and will be valuable resource for the county:
