It could take more than a fortnight for Laois County Council to remove a number of caravans that have parked in Mountrath.
Independent councillor James Kelly says the act is totally against local planning regulations and that some local businesses have decided to close their doors as a result.
An enforcement notice was issued last Monday, and those parked on the Shannon road now have two weeks to respond.
