That’s according to Fianna Fáil councillor Aengus O’Rourke, after it was confirmed that the HSE has lodged an application to construct a new, state of the art facility in Clonbrusk.
While the South Westmeath Hospice says its service in the town is not closing, the HSE proposals involve moving St. Vincent’s Hospital and hospice services to the new centre once it is built.
The Athlone councillor is welcoming the development, but anxious to ensure the care remains at a same standard:
