Marek Puska is accused of withholding information from the investigation team.
A jury has heard one of Jozef Puska’s brothers initially told gardai he didn’t see him on the evening of Ashling Murphy’s murder; but later revealed he had.
Marek Puska is accused of withholding information from the investigation team, including Jozef Puska returned home that evening with visible injuries.
In his first voluntary statement, two days after Ashling Murphy was killed, Marek Puska told gardai he hadn’t seen his brother, Jozef, at all on the day of the murder; and became concerned about him when he didn’t return home that evening.
Just before that interview ended, the jury heard Marek told gardai that he wanted to tell them more, but couldn’t because the medication he was on affects his memory.
He told them he’d contact them if he remembered anything else, before saying, “I want to help.”
Four days later, he made a second statement, revealing that Jozef had in fact returned home that night, with bumps on his head, “like he’d been hit.”
He said he also had blood on his head, and “three holes” in his stomach area.
He said he asked his brother so many questions about what happened to him, but felt he wasn’t telling him the truth.
Marek, and another brother, Lubomir Puska, are both accused of withholding information from the investigation team; while their wives are on trial for allegedly burning Jozef Puska’s clothes.
