A 17% increase in fatal collisions on Irish roads so far this year is being described as disheartening.

Latest figures from An Garda Síochána also highlights a doubling of deaths of pedestrians to 18.

Founder and chairperson of the Mullingar-based Irish Road Victims' Association, Donna Price, says the majority of those killed are over 60 years of age, showing it isn't just children who are killed in this manner. 

She says we need to regain our focus on bringing the numbers down:
