The 'Arden Lane' site in Tullamore was chosen.
A decision is due from Offaly County Council on the Midlands Hospice today.
A protracted site evaluation process led to the selection of the 'Arden Lane' site in Tullamore over the Wellwood Healthcare Campus for the 20 bed facility in September.
The site has been the topic of strong debate, as Offaly Hospice made objections to the proposed location and North Westmeath Hospice wants the fighting over the destination to stop.
The detailed design stage is completed for the development.
The new hospice will provide specialist palliative care services for the Midlands region.
