The demand for services of an Athlone charity has soared by 40% in the past year.
Community Connect with a base in Athlone, supports pregnant women and new parents in a practical way by providing baby equipment, clothing and essential baby supplies.
The charity say that nationally the demand for these resources for mothers and babies has risen to 50%, mainly due to the cost of living crisis.
Since 2021, Community Connect volunteers have completed 939 deliveries across Ireland to provide essential items, supporting 759 separate families.
The organistaion has recently teamed up with IKEA, who will donate one euro from every sale of baby furniture to the charity.
