Department Of Agriculture Confirms €2.5m In Midlands Beef Welfare Payments

Agri Minister Martin Heydon says work is being done to ensure the scheme continues next year.

Over €2.5m in payments are being made to suckler farmers across the Midlands.

The 2025 edition of the Beef Welfare Scheme supports farmers in feeding calves before and after the weaning process and in vaccinating against certain diseases.

Westmeath is being granted the most payments at almost 800 at a total of around €1.1m.

While over €766,400 are going to around 470 farmers in Laois, and  471 farms in Offaly get around €696,100.

Agriculture Minister Martin Heydon is confirming a further €28m is being secured for a possible continuation of the scheme next year.
