Laois' Tom Mulhall served as a councillor for over ten years.
The former Cathaoirleach of Laois County Council is due to be laid to rest today.
Emo's Tom Mulhall passed away on Tuesday morning.
He served as a Councillor for more than a decade, stepping into the role in 2009, before taking on the role of Cathaoirleach in 2016, and ultimately stepping down in 2021 due to health issues.
Colleagues have been remembering him as a diligent councillor, who served the county well.
His funeral is due to take place in St. Paul's Church in Emo today at 12pm.
He's survived by his wife Bridget, and his children, Úna and Niall.
