The Athlone Sub-Aqua Club rescued the lost animal yesterday.
A dog has been rescued from Lough Ree.
Max fell overboard from a cruiser at the north of the lake yesterday.
The Jack Russell Terrier was found floating in his lifejacket near the Wood Shoal, after members of the Athlone Sub Aqua Club responded to the distress call to look for the missing dog.
The club says Max was overjoyed to be brought on board and, while he was cold and a bit shaken, he was otherwise in good health.
Chairperson, Janet Mullen, says the incident highlights the importance of wearing lifejackets for both people and animals.
