Domestic Abuse Cases Surge In Midlands

A Sinn Féin TD wants more Gardaí and support services.

Gardaí received over 25,000 domestic abuse calls in the Midlands in a four year period. 

Figures from the Gardaí show domestic abuse calls in Meath/Westmeath increased 37% from 2020 to 2024, the Laois/Offaly Division also saw a 37% rise.

Longford Westmeath TD Sorca Clarke believes urgent government action is needed after a spike in both reported domestic abuse calls, and incidents.
