26 new greenways are to be developed across the country.
€4.5 million in funding is being given to projects through the Carbon Tax Fund.
That includes €100,000 for the Lough Ree project, between Athlone to Tarmonbarry in Co. Roscommon.
The funding is going towards a a concept and feasibility study for the 68km stretch of greenway.
