€10 million in funding is being announced under the EU Just Transition Fund to support a bioeconomy project in the Midlands.
The funding, awarded through the EU Just Transition Fund Bioeconomy Demonstration Initiative, will provide €5 million each to the ‘BIOCHAR’ and ‘TRANSFORM’ projects.
TRANSFORM will upcycle food waste and agri-food by-products at a commercial scale in Tullamore, Offaly.
While the BIOCHAR project will develop sustainable fuel products for use in agriculture, water treatment and transport infrastructure leaving a blueprint for future use in the Midlands.
