Mr Burke appeared in court via video link today.
Enoch Burke’s sister and mother will find out next week if they face a fine or jail for contempt of court.
A contempt hearing was held in the High Court today, after the two women were removed from a hearing last week for refusing to stop interrupting proceedings.
Last Friday, Enoch Burke appeared in court for a hearing relating to his challenge to membership of a disciplinary panel convened to hear his appeal over his dismissal from Wilson’s Hospital School.
The hearing was suspended after he and members of his family interrupted proceedings and were removed from court.
Today, Judge Brian Cregan told his sister and mother, Ammi and Martina Burke, they could make submissions in their defence, and warned they could face a fine, prison or both if they’re found in contempt of court.
Speaking in court today, Martina Burke said she has “a duty to speak the truth, when there’s no place for justice or truth in the courts”.
Ammi claimed the removal of the family members from the hearing was an “appalling abuse of power” and added she won’t “sit silently by while rights are being denied”.
Judge Cregan reserved judgment on the matter until next Wednesday.
While leaving court, Martina Burke shouted “you won’t win”.
Six members of the Burke family were in court for today’s hearing, while Enoch attended via video link, and at one point was muted for interrupting.
