€66,000 Awarded to Fishery Conservation Projects in Westmeath

Inland Fisheries Ireland is awarding over €1 million in funding to 34 projects nationwide.

Inland Fisheries Ireland is awarding over €1 million in funding to 34 projects under the ‘Habitats and Conservation Scheme.

€66,000 is going to projects based in Westmeath.

This includes a €30,000 grant for instream and riverbank restoration works and materials on the Stonyford River in Delvin.

The announcement has been welcomed by Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications Éamon Ryan who said that “The funds will support angling clubs and fishery owners to improve habitats, water quality and fish passage in their immediate areas, while also supporting IFI personnel to deliver projects at a national level.”
