Less than 500 electric cars have been registered in the region so far this year.
Registration of electric vehicles in the midlands has seen a further fall compared to this time last year.
Both Offaly and Westmeath have seen a decline in EVs for more than 30%, while in Laois the decrease is at 23%.
So far in 2024 only 465 electric cars have been registered in the region.
In October, just under 530 EVs were registered across the country, down from over 600 in the same month in 2023.
Society of the Irish Motor Industry Director General, Brian Cooke says the decline in EV sales shows the need for continued Government support:
