A midlands nursing home has been given the green light for a new extension.
Oakdale Nursing Home in Gracefield, Portarlington, has received planning permission from the local authority to add 49 en-suite single bedrooms to their facility.
The new rooms will span over two-storeys, and will also include new recreational spaces and staff facilities.
The developer has been granted approval to demolish a canopy at the front of the building, in order to erect a new lobby.
The provision of a number of solar panels have also been given the green light.
As part of the new extension, the developer has received planning permission for a number of demolitions, including a porch at the back of the building, an uninhabitable dwelling house and some storage buildings.
The current car park will also be extended, as will the footpath leading to the new site.
As part of proposal being granted, the developer must pay a fee of €45,207 before construction begins.
