The business closed over a year ago.
A former Laois restaurant has been given approval to retain its conversion into accommodation for Ukrainian refugees.
The site, which was formerly known as McEvoy's Bar and Restaurant in Abbeyleix, closed around a year ago, and was later converted to a guesthouse.
After being asked for further information by Laois County Council, the developer confirmed the premises would be used for the accommodation of Ukrainian refugees.
That change to the proposal was deemed 'significant further information,' meaning more notices were required to be submitted.
The local authority said the plan is not for "standard guest house use as previously indicated and advertised but more a development for the housing of Displaced Persons from Ukraine."
Following this, Laois County Council granted planning permission for the development, subject to seven conditions.
