15 tents are to be installed by the end of this month.
A former midlands army barracks is to be used for temporary accommodation for refugees.
The Department of Integration is working on plans to use Columb Barracks in Mullingar to house those coming into Ireland.
15 tents, which would hold up to 120 single men, are to be installed by the end of this month.
After eight weeks, they will then be replaced by Portakabins - which will cater for families only and can accommodate up to 200 people.
It's envisioned that the site would be used for the next 12 months.
