A midlands TD is among those welcoming the former Taoiseach back to the party.
Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is being welcomed back to Fianna Fáil.
Mr. Ahern resigned in 2012 as Micheál Martin was making moves to expel him over the findings of the Mahon Tribunal.
Laois Offaly TD Barry Cowen is among those welcoming the former Taoiseach, and says he would be 'an inspiration to other members,' according to the Irish Times.
Not everyone is happy about the move however, as Labour TD Aodhán Ó Ríordáin has labelled Mr. Ahern's re-admission as 'outrageous,' given the outcome of the tribunal.
And Former Minister Conor Lenihan says Bertie Ahern's return will be a huge asset to the party.
There has been a mixed reaction to the news that Bertie Ahern is back in Fianna Fail.
His return to the party does not necessarily mean a return to the political stage.
While, Longford Westmeath Fianna Fail TD Joe Flaherty admits he wasn't exactly cracking open the champagne last night when he heard the news, he believes the former Taoiseach has a lot to offer:
