Gardaí breath-tested over 400 drivers in the operation.
Four drivers in Laois have been arrested following an extensive Garda operation on the M7.
Gardai say the aim of the high visibility checkpoint was to stop criminals using Ireland's motorway network.
431 breath tests, 10 drug tests and six vehicles seized - all in the space of four hours.
Members of the Laois Roads Policing unit, alongside members of Portlaoise and Mountrath Garda Stations, conducted the checkpoint at Junction 21 of the M7 near Borris in Ossory on Wednesday.
Four arrests were made - three for drug driving and one for drink driving between 12.45 and 4.45pm.
Gardaí also say important intelligence was gained and numerous drug searches were carried out as part of the operation.
The focus of the exercise was deterring criminals from using the network as well as improving driver behaviour to reduce road deaths.
Assistant Commissioner Michael Finn is thanking the public on behalf of Garda Síochana for their patience during this operation.
