The face of Airbnb's in the midlands is changing.
A study from the Economic and Social Research Institute found a significant rise in the number of 'entire properties' listed in Laois, Offaly, and Westmeath.
From 2019 to 2023 it was Westmeath that saw the biggest fall in homesharing/private rooms advertised on the site, from 68% of listings, down to 45%.
50% of Airbnb's in Offaly are entire properties, up from just 41% in 2019.
The figure went from 41% to 44% in Laois.
Government is planning to bring in tougher rules for holiday lets in an effort to boost private rental homes.
