Garda Commissioner Committed To Pursuing 'Predators' In The Defence Forces

Some complaints received by Gardaí date back to the early 1960s.

The Garda Commissioner says he’s committed to pursuing 'predators' within the Defence Forces.

Drew Harris says a 'national operation' has been set up within An Garda Síochána to investigate any claims of sexual assault from retired or serving soldiers.

26 complaints have already been received by Gardaí, some dating back to the early 1960s.

Former detective and current private investigator in Mullingar, Pat Marry, says the Gardaí are very capable of dealing with these crimes:

It's anticipated the Garda Commissioner will meet the Women of Honour group in relation to the sexual assault complaints.

That's according to the Tanaiste.

The Women of Honour group welcomed the move, but said they had not been made aware of criminal complaints.
