Gardaí In Midlands Left Firefighting Against Growing Drugs Trade

That comes from a member of the Laois Joint Policing Committee.

The demand for drugs in Ireland is leaving authorities merely firefighting against the issue. 

That's the view of Laois/Offaly Sinn Féin TD Brian Stanley. 

It's after a €3.9 million seizure of cannabis and paraphernalia near Raheen in Laois yesterday. 

Deputy Stanley is also a member of the joint policing committee in the county. 

He says criminals are using the midlands to fund other ambitions:
