The collision, involving a motorcyclist, occurred on the M7 at Junction 16 this afternoon.
Motorists travelling between Junction 15 and 16 Northbound between 3pm and 3.30pm are being asked to contact Portlaoise Garda Station on 057 86 74100.
Gardaí are particularly interested in speaking to anyone that may have dashcam footage.
