If the government want to support carers they should put money up or shut up.
That's according to Laois Offaly TD Carol Nolan who believes "fine words on their own mean nothing" after the largest ever defeat of a referendum in the history of the State.
The Care Amendment was rejected by 74% of voters, while the Family Amendment was rejected by 68%.

The government needs to reconnect with the public and reflect on the defeats - according to one of its own MEPs.
Midlands North West Fine Gael MEP Colm Markey says the coalition must take collective responsibility, claiming it was not the fault of one individual.
