The Minister for Health has confirmed there will be no elective surgery hubs for the region.
A Laois Offaly TD says the government is favouring city populations over those living in midlands counties.
It comes as the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly is confirming to Carol Nolan no hospitals in the Midlands are in line for new elective surgery hubs.
While dedicated elective surgery hubs will be developed in Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick and Waterford.
The sites will provide special facilities for patients recovering from knee and hip operations.
