One local councillor says the residents must be listened to.
An "historic" number of objections has been filed against plans for a new wind farm in Offaly.
The council's Draft County Development Plan includes proposals to designate Leamonaghan Bog near Ballycumber as an area suitable for wind farm development, with Bord na Móna already planning a new wind farm project there.
However, 2,500 objections have been filed by locals residents, who say the proposals would be damaging to the nearby St. Manchan's monastic site.
Independent councillor Seán O'Brien says this is something the local authority needs to take very seriously:
