Two Midlands towns are seeing significant rises to the housing market.
A new report indicates house prices in the midlands are increasing faster than nearly anywhere else in the country.
The Real Estate Alliance House Price Index shows towns like and Athlone and Tullamore are seeing soaring prices as supply to the housing market continues to falter.
The REA's latest quarterly report finds a semi-detached 3 bed home now costs €20,000 more in Offaly and Westmeath than it did just three months ago.
The increase in Offaly, where the average price of such a house is now €260,000, is a jump of 8.3%
That's the biggest increase in the country of any county bar Galway, where prices are up by the same percentage.
The average price of a three bed semi in Westmeath is now €315,000, an rise of 6.8% in 12 weeks.
Laois has seen a more modest increase of 1.9%, averaging a price of €270,000.
Nationally, prices have risen by 2.9% over the past three months to an average of €336,944.
