HSE Figures Show Major Staffing Gaps In Mildands Youth Mental Health Services

Nationally, only 38% of staffing target has been met.

The midlands is understaffed when it comes to mental health services for young people.

The HSE's CAMHS ID services, launched in 2022, recommend 16 multidisciplinary teams nationwide, but current staffing is only 38% of the target, with funding at 43%.

In the midlands, the Non-Consultant Hospital Doctor role is funded and filled, but only half of a consultant psychiatrist and administrator post is funded, and the psychologist position is funded but not yet filled.

Social Democrats TD Liam Quaide, who received these figures from the HSE says these findings are "the predictable result of chronic underinvestment and failed workforce planning".
